You can help us finalize ride logistics by participating in our Pre-Ride of the route this coming Saturday, Oct. 3, at 9am.  This ride will be casually/moderately paced, to allow thoughtful consideration of possible rest stop locations, problem intersections, route/detour options, etc.  We’ll be riding the 50 mile route since all the shorter routes are included.  And be sure to allow time to hang out afterwards to discuss the logistics/suggestions over pizza & soda.  We’d really like your input.

The weather forecast looks promising, so be sure to let me know if you plan to attend.  I’ll send additional details to those who RSVP, but note we’ll be meeting at my house and will leave from there at 9 am sharp and go to the proposed start/finish.  So be sure to arrive early enough to allow time to get your bike and yourself ready to go!

One of the best things about being a part of the EXPO Wheelmen is that we can participate not only in races, but can support worthy causes as well.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Mark your calendars now…
Saturday, October 2, 2010 will mark the first annual Pedal 4 Paws charity ride, offering ride distances of 10, 25 and 50 miles through the beautiful villages and towns of the Shoreline and Connecticut River Valley.
As a non-profit shelter, Forgotten Felines is supported entirely by charitable contributions and run entirely by volunteers.  Every cat that is rescued is spayed/neutered, given a thorough medical exam, vaccinated and tested for disease.  Feral cats are released into managed colonies and the rest wait to be adopted, without having to worry about being euthanized.

But this level of care and attention comes at a cost and Forgotten Felines needs an increased level of financial support in order to continue its work.  The rising costs of vet care, as well as an increased number of pet abandonments during this economic downturn, have put a heavier burden on the shelter’s resources.

NEMBA Toy Ride and Toy Collection – Robinson SP, Agawam, MA

Come on out for some great Fall riding and a great cause!  The primped trails make this an event not to be missed!  The trails of Robinson are perfect for ALL abilities!

What:  Toys for Tots Fun Ride   (Self guided, arrowed loops)

When:  November 22, 2009    Registration 9-10am     All riders off by 10:15

Where:  Armory Drive, Agawam, Ma  (Location is outside of the park.)

Donation:  New unwrapped toys to donate to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots.

 Three arrowed loops:

        Beginner – approx 4-5 miles

        Intermediate – approx 12 miles

Groups/led rides leave at 9:30 (hopefully at each level)

Think Kingdom Trails of Southern New England! (on a smaller scale)  Fun loops that are not overly technical or hilly.  Tight flowing MTB specific single track.  Many trails have been swept of leaves (winds and time constraints could change that).

There are no facilities this time of year, so please plan accordingly.

Parking and Registration will be at Shea’s Field.  Armory Drive, off Maynard Street, Agawam.

Directions:  I-91 North or South, to 57 West for 1.2 miles – First exit for Main St (RT-159) – go 1.3 miles and the road turns into (RT-147/Springfield St.) (Landmark: Dunkin Donuts) go 0.7 miles (Landmark: CVS) and bear right onto North St (up the hill) – Second right onto Maynard – First right onto Armory – Armory is only a tenth of a mile long and runs directly into the parking lot for Shea’s field.
